Quit Smoking Program
Quit Smoking Program
Most people try to quit smoking around 20 times before being successful. The physical side of quitting is not the problem - what keeps you smoking and creates those deep cravings that have you falling back into smoking and disappointing yourself is this..... Smoking is performing a positive function in your life! And unless you can find out what that is, and put something in it's place, you will end up taking up smoking again or substituting another addictive behaviour (eating, drinking, nailbiting, anxiety attacks). In the Innerstrength Quit Smoking Program, you will discover the positive function smoking is performing and replace it, change your beliefs around smoking and quitting, learn tools and strategies to handle cravings and keep you focused on and appreciating your health. Trance is also an important element of this program - please visit Our Services to find out more about this way of working. The Quit Smoking program involves up to five sessions of 90 minutes, either weekly or fortnightly.
Weight Management Program
Weight Management Program
If you are struggling to lose weight, to contain the cravings for food - then food and eating is fulfilling an important positive function in your mindbody system. It is, however, most likely to be leading to ill health and lowered self-esteem. Whatever the thinking, beliefs, needs that lead to you becoming overweight - they are not working for you anymore. If you have tried lots of diets, exercise, and everything else you can think of without success, then it's time to visit Victoria and get involved in the Weight Management Program. We'll be looking at the beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, that keep you in habits that you no longer need. In addition to the behavioural strategies provided by Victoria, there are cross-referrals to Chinese Medical Practitioner Russell Shaw, Naturopath Trevor Kennedy, and other physical therapists at McMillan Chiropractic Centre if and when needed. Hypnotic trance techniques are also utilised where the client is comfortable with this - please refer to the Our Services page for further information.
Chronic Pain Management Program
Chronic Pain Management Program
Chronic pain consists of the physical pain signal, and also carries with it the memory of past pain and the anticipation of all future pain. These emotional and cognitive interpretations of the physical pain signals in chronic sufferers can lead to the experience that pain permeates the body and takes over the person's existence. Pain management therapy can alleviate the mental and emotional distress by teaching clients not to notice the pain signal, or to interpret it in a benign manner. Pain management therapy is recommended to be used concurrently with medical management. It is not a replacement for pain medication or other medical interventions. Care is taken to preserve the meaningful cautions or restrictions that are creations of the pain signal even as we reduce suffering, so that the client still attends to the signals that warn him/her not to move in a particular way. Techniques used in pain management therapy are tailored to the client, and include: - hypnotic trance work, self-hypnosis - modifying beliefs about pain - mindfulness tools - CBT and energy psychology strategies for managing distress
